Poll on Perceptions of Science and Technology's National Impact

Asked how much the advance of science and technology will affect the country overall, 85.5% of respondents said it will have a very large impact, and 95.2% saw at least some impact, a view shared across every age group. Asked where the impact will be greatest, 56.7% chose the economy and industry, ahead of defense and security (18.5%). On Korea's standing, 70.4% placed the country's science and technology in the world's upper tier, though only 14.4% called it top tier. As the first task for the National Assembly and the government, 45.9% chose expanding R&D investment, and among those aged 18-29 the share choosing better treatment of researchers (34.4%) was higher than overall (23.5%).
