Poll on the U.S. Request for a Hormuz Deployment

Asked about the request the United States has made to allies since March for military assets to be deployed to the Strait of Hormuz, 62.4% of respondents said the request is not justified, against 35.3% who called it justified. The timing and manner in which the government has brought the deployment question into public view were rated not appropriate by 61.3%. The single most preferred course is deployment only as part of a multinational coalition (37.6%), and even among those who call the request unjustified, 61.9% favor either coalition participation or materiel support rather than doing nothing. Prior reporting to and deliberation by the National Assembly before any decision is considered important by 84.0%.
